WALKERTON -
From
the better-late-than-never department, the Mount Forest bantam 'C'
Rams scored three goals in both the second and third periods en route
to a 6-1 decision over the Walkerton Capitals.
Mount Forest needed assistant captain Morgan F. to get the ball rolling with a rocket from the slot early in the second to crack the goose egg.
“Once the girls put their minds to it, there isn't a team we can't keep pace with it,” said coach Bill W.
“We work our girls hard in practice and in our off-ice workouts so we know our fitness level is second to none. We just have to get out of first gear quicker.”
Haven L. paced the victors with two goals. Olivia S. and captain Kyla P. also found the twine.
Liv earned the Super Girl cape for flying around the ice and using her blazing speed to create mismatches.
Call-up Evelyn N. had a superb night playing a position on the wing she is unaccustomed to. She scored a goal and buzzed around the offensive zone with confidence throughout. She won the Hard Hat Award for a solid night all around.
Morgan finished her night with two helpers to go with her goal.
“We challenged our girls to start the third and they responded,” said the coach. "We were a different team in the final 15 minutes. That's what we need to see all game."
The Rams convene again on Wednesday for photos and practice. We'll start our warm-up at 5:45 p.m. so please be on time.
We'll hold a special post-practice work out for anyone who can't make it to warm up.
