Rams back in win column
By Christine Rivet
CLIFFORD -The Mount Forest Rams got back into the win column with a 1-0 decision over the West Grey Warriors on Thursday night.

“It was great to see the girls rewarded for their hard work and plenty of pressure on the forecheck,” said Bantam C head coach Bill Walker.

“We knew if they stuck with it, they would be rewarded. It was inevitable.”

The Rams rode some fine shut-down work from their defensive pairings Thursday. In particular, Jayde M., who took the hard hat award, was a force all night, gobbling up loose pucks and foiling the visitors' rushes with equal aplomb.

Fellow blueliner, Rams captain Kyla P., reported for duty with a stellar night from the backend, often leading the rush and causing all sorts of havoc in the Warriors' zone. She scored the game's only goal.

With plenty of pressure in the visitors' end throughout the night, if not for some excellent saves by the Warriors goalie, the Rams could've scored a few more goals Thursday.

“We talked before the game how we have to start gearing up for our upcoming tournaments and players who are working hard out there will definitely be getting more icetime,” said the coach.

Rams centres Morgan F. and Haven L. logged plenty of minutes, especially in the late going on Thursday, to help the girls salt away the win.

Alyssa V. made several fine saves, calmly and always in control, in posting the shutout.

The Rams are back in action on Feb . 20 with a 3:30 p.m. practice in Mount Forest.

And their next game is Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in Lucknow against Wingham-Lucknow.
