Rams grab silver in Woodstock
By Christine Rivet
WOODSTOCK – The Mount Forest bantam C Rams saw their five-game undefeated streak at the Woodstock Wildcats Girls Hockey Tournament come to a halt.

The Rams fell 1-0 to their league rivals, the South Bruce Blades, in the tourney’s title game on Sunday.

“Hats off to South Bruce. They played a real solid game and we never really found our groove as a team,” said Rams coach Bill W.

“But it’s a long season and certain to have a few bumps in the road. We will get a couple more shots at South Bruce before all is said and done – including a rematch in league play Friday night.”

Earlier in the day, the Rams posted a 6-1 decision over South Huron in semifinal action.

Morgan F. potted a hat trick for the winners. Haven L., Carley C. and Shea M. scored one apiece in the semi.

In Woodstock, the Mount Forest girls outscored their competition 23-3 through six games.

“The girls had a real solid weekend. They sure worked hard. We just ran into a very hungry South Bruce team.”

The Rams, in the midst of an impressive season, have lost just twice in 31 games so far, losing both of those contests by one goal.

And their season series with South Bruce is proving to be epic.

In head-to-head meetings with South Bruce so far this season, the Mount Forest girls have one win, one loss and three ties.

Friday night’s rematch is an 8 p.m. start at the Mount Forest arena.
