Atom Reps make it to Championship Finals
The Atom Rep Rams traveled to Clifford on Saturday for their second tournament of the year.

The first game at 8:00 a.m. the Rams met the host team for a 13-0 win.  The Clifford team had just enough to put a team together and the Rams came out strong overpowering them the entire game.  Very early in the first period Derek Acheson scored the first goal of the game.  Shortly after Kyle Dallaire with a pass to Tristan Sylvestre who then backhanded back to Dallaire to score. Reaman picked the puck up at the blue line and popped it in the top shelf.  The boys took great advantage of their lead and worked on great passing and set ups. Cole Hodgins set up Troy Weber who passed to Blake Lewis who tipped the puck to Hodgins to pop it in.  Jake Mulder scored his goal unassisted.  Hunter Elliott from the blue line set up Derek Acheson for his 2nd goal of the game.  Tristan Sylvestre with a long pass to Jordan Reaman to score.  Webers backhand pass to Lewis put another marker up on the board.  With an 8-0 lead the coaches started changing up the boys.  Forwards played defence and the defence moved to forward.  It was a great opportunity for the boys to play a different position and appreciate their team mates positions.
The 2nd period Reaman shot from the blue line and the Clifford defence deflected it in.  Troy Weber scored his 2nd goal with the assist going to Dylan Reeves.  Usual defencemen Alex Keiffer and Jake Zeinstra took advantage of being on forward and both scored goals.
The 3rd period Clifford just allowed 2 goals.  The first went to Alex Keiffer who popped the puck in the net after receiving a great pass from Troy Weber from behind the net.  Brady Reeves-Coburn score the final goal of the game to end the boys first game of the day.

The 2nd game the Rams met Lucknow at 2:00 p.m. The boys were pumped and ready to play.  The puck dropped at the first face off and Reaman took off with it and scored the first goal with only 8 seconds into the game.  30 seconds later Lewis followed suit and scored goal #2.  The play went back and forth between the two teams.  Lucknow was putting on the pressure and with a hard shot Kroes made the initial blocker save but the puck dropped on the goal line.  Kroes went down to cover the puck and accidentally pushed the puck past the goal line giving Lucknow their first goal of the game.  20 seconds later Sylvestre got back the goal that Mount Forest had just given up to make the score 3-1.  Both teams were starting to get aggressive and the penalities were starting to add up for both teams. Brady Reeves-Coburn used the man advantage that the Rams were on to give the team goal #4.
The 2nd period Kroes saw a firing squad of shots and Lucknow was only able to get one high shot past the goaltender for the entire period.
In the 3rd period the penalities were hurting the tired Rams as Lucknow scored their 3rd goal while the Rams were short 2 men.  23 seconds later with still 1 in the box Lucknow again scored bringing the score to 5-4.  The shorthanded boys were able to hang on to the win to advance them to the championship game.

The 6:00 p.m. Championship Game the Rams met Flesherton for a tight game.  It was an evenly matched back and forth first period with both teams wanting the win.  It took Flesherton to score on a powerplay to open up the scoring of the game.  Cole Hodgins passed the puck up center ice to Blake Lewis who slipped the puck into the mesh to tie the game at 1.
Defence Dylan Reeves, Warren Zeinstra, Hunter Elliott, Alex Keiffer and Jake Zeinstra had a work out as Flesherton seemed to add more and more pressure on the Rams.  Flesherton was able to make good on the Rams not being able to clear the puck out of their end and score their 2nd goal.  The Rams were tired and the 6:00 morning for most of the boys was starting to take its toll.  Flesherton was able to score one more goal after Kroes made the initial save Flesherton kept at the puck and poked it in.
The boys worked hard all day and should be proud of making it to the Championship Finals. The lessons learned at this tournament we're sure will help prepare them for the Silver Stick Tournament.
