What a Streak....10-0!!!
Wow!! What else can you say about this team?? Halfway through the season and they have a perfect 10-0 record. This weekends game had us up against the TCDMHA Rebels. Within seconds of the puck drop the starting line of Kyla, Morgan and Paige were down the ice testing the goalies skills,their constant pressure forcing their goalie to cover it up for the whistle. If the rebels were hoping for a weaker line, after the change they were to be disappointed, all our girls came to play today!
While TCDMHA were playing strong, they were no match for our attackers and it didn't take long for Taylor to put the puck into the net, with the assist going to Ariana. Our no mercy Rams continued the pressure in the second period and their efforts would result in 3 more goals for us. Ariana popped one in with some help from Megan and Taylor, Hanna (a.k.a Boomer) blasted one in from the blue line and Delaney's never give up attitude netted her one more!
With a 4-0 lead going into the third our girls were able to relax a little and just defend this win.
What a team!! Have I mentioned that?? There's a good reason this team is sitting at the top of their division in the WOAA. Every player gives 100% every time they are on the ice. Team stands for Together Everyone Achieves More and these girls demonstrate that each and every game. Our forwards all look for each other, passing, setting up plays and not quitting until the puck is in the net. Our unsung heros are the rock solid defence. They know the glory is up front, but games are lost without a strong defence. They're the goalies best friend, they hold the blue line, backcheck like crazy and occasionally get the opportunity to rush forward and pop one in themselves. Then there's that goalie...the team in front of her is making Marissa's job a little easier this year but when we need her she always comes up big. It's a lonely, pressure filled position that takes a special breed...and we've found it in her (ok I might be a little biased) but seriously 7 shutouts!!! Way to go.
The team doesn't end with the players on the ice...we have an amazing coaching staff that works with these girls to ensure they keep on improving. Kevin spends countless hours working on practice and game plans and still has time to joke and have fun with the girls. Bill, Paul, Jenn and Mandi are always there for whatever needs to be done, from skate tying and equipment repairs to pep talks and hair ties...that's team work!
Our next game is Saturday December 3rd at 1:30 vs the Walkerton Capitals. Come out and cheer them on!!
