Rams learn valuable lesson
By Christine Rivet
AYTON -- The Mount Forest Bantam C Rams continued their preseason
schedule with a 3-2 loss to the West Grey Warriors on Saturday
afternoon.
The Rams showed heaps of improvement from their first outing of the season. They battled hard for pucks and kept their feet moving -- mostly.
The Mount Forest girls drew three penalties on the afternoon simply by outskating their opponents.
"We only ran into trouble when we stopped skating," said coach Bill Walker. "We got satisfied with the scoreboard and thought we had the game won before the final buzzer sounded."
That was a mistake the hard-working Rams will not make again.
The Rams will work to eliminate a couple blown assignments in the defensive zone while the team's wingers will continue their steady progression with the team's breakouts and forecheck.
Rams centres Haven L. and Morgan F. picked up where they left off from last season, with their defensive hustle and fearless forays toward the opponent's net.
Haven and Morgan scored the goals for the Rams. Jasmine M. and Jayde M., along with Olivia S. and Chloe K. chipped in with assists for the visitors.
The Rams are back on the ice Thursday at 4:30 p.m. for practice before entertaining Walkerton at 8 p.m. on Friday in a third-and-final exhibition game.
