Rams getting closer
By Christine Rivet
CLIFFORD - The Mount Forest bantam C Rams woke up about midway through their game but narrowed the gap between themselves and league rival Chatsworth Township in Thursday's 2-1 exhibition loss.

The Rams fought their biggest rival, themselves, through the first period before they got rolling. And once they did, they forced the visitors into their penalty parade to the box (seven, count 'em, seven penalties!) to the Rams' lone minor.

"It was a good effort in the third. We were all over them," said head coach Bill W. "We made two mistakes in our end and, unfortunately, they both ended up in our net."

The Mount Forest girls will turn their attention to working on their power play in Friday's practice.

"We showed spurts. But if our speed and hustle are going to force opponents into continually taking penalties, we have to make hay while the sun shines."

Call-up Evelyn N. showed some tremendous energy in Thursday's game, blasting through Chatsworth's defence time and again. Playing out of her usual position, Evie once again proved a valuable asset no matter where the coaches line her up. She earned the Super Girl cape for another outstanding effort.

Jazzy M. took the Hard Hat Award for some fearless work angling out the rough-and-ready Chatsworth forwards.

"We are getting there," said coach Bill. "There can be no substitute for hard work. Those efforts are sure to be rewarded."

Friday's practice is an 8 p.m. start at the Mount Forest arena. Warmup starts at 7:10 p.m.
