Rams show true colours in bounce-back win

OWEN SOUND – The Mount Forest bantam C Rams turned the page on their gruesome Saturday with a much-improved effort and result in Sunday’s action.

The Rams powered to a 1-0 victory over their hosts from Owen Sound in exhibition play Sunday, all but removing the stench from Saturday’s uncharacteristic 5-0 stinker to West Grey.

The score flattered Sunday’s opponents as the Rams had possession in the Owen Sound end for most of the contest.

“Nobody likes to be on the losing end of a lopsided game. But sometimes a blowout sends a message loud and clear,” said coach Bill W. “We didn’t have the best practices last week and frankly, it showed.

“The coaches all know what a talented, dedicated team we have and the girls showed a hint of their true colours on Sunday.”

Peyton M. scored the game’s lone goal Sunday while Alyssa V. got back on track with a shutout performance.

Jazzy M. took the Super Cape Award for a tremendously-determined effort on the Rams’ blueline thwarting the hosts’ attack.

Abby W. was presented with the Hard Hat for another solid game breaking up plays and showing a little offensive flair, too.

Afterwards, the players and parents convened for a team meal and again to watch the Owen Sound Attack play the Peterborough Petes in a fast-paced Ontario Hockey League game.

“It was a good day for our girls, a nice way for them to rebound.”

The Rams hit the ice again on Tuesday for a practice at the Mount Forest arena and then Thursday in Southampton for a game against the high-voltage Saugeen Shores Lightning.
