Rams need to find extra gear
By Christine Rivet
CLIFFORD - The Mount Forest Rams got a spectacular effort from their goalie but failed to take advance of it en route to a 3-1 loss to the visiting Saugeen Shores Lightning B's on Thursday.

Rams goaltender Alyssa V. made 25 saves, many of the heart-stopping variety, including one off her noggin during the game.

The Mount Forest girls scored on a powerplay, getting a goal-mouth scramble marker from Hayley G. with an assist from linemate Emily A. as the hosts got off to a promising 1-0 start.

But the Rams were victimized by a couple defensive breakdowns and an opportunistic opponent.

“A couple miscues cost us dearly,” said coach Bill W.

“The good news is we know we can keep pace with a real solid B team like Saugeen Shores. This is the second time we've proved it. We have to dig down deeper if we are going to win games like these.”

The two teams skated to a 2-2 draw before Christmas in Southampton.

Mount Forest swings back into action on Friday night when the Rams entertain South Bruce. It's an 8 p.m. start at the Mount Forest arena.
