LLFHL Season Openers
The Lower Lakes Female Hockey League season is upon us and the Pee Wee C girls took to the ice for the first of 2 games this weekend. With the home opener Saturday and a capacity crowd on hand they were not disappointed. This year team looks lean and mean and ready for action!

The first game was against the South Huron Sabres and it was a great back and forth contest with South Huron opening the scoring in the 1st period, the girls looked a bit rattled with some trying to figure out new positions and partners. But by the 2nd period we found our legs and Tori scored from the always in your face hard nosed Lexi R to tie the game. 3rd period and these 2 teams seem very well matched and it didn't help that we had to kill off 5 2 minute minors ( thanks refs) . W ith time winding down Jordyn made a great play to keep the puck in and fired a shot that missed the net and Chaise corralled the rebound and curled to into the slot and fired a wrister past the goalie with a 1:30 to play. With that the girls broke into the defensive shell and didn't let anyone near our end to hold on for the win.

Game #2 Sunday Vs. the Waterloo Ravens the girls came out of the gate hard and didn't let up all game and really outshot the ravens by a large margin but the Ravens goaltender stood tall and kept us off the scoreboard until Chaise snuck in a backhander to break the goose egg and with that we secured a 1-0 win . The defence really had a strong game today Haven T, Lexi R, Jayme B and Jordyn held the blue line all game and wouldn't let the puck out. Brianna G had another solid outing in net and looks to be liking the new defensive core in front of her. After the game I heard her tell the defence beer and wings on her tonight!
