Have No Fear, Have No Doubt
The U-15 Local League Team carried their confidence into an overtime period to beat the Wingham Ironmen 6-5 in their playoff opener.
With no fear and no doubt of their abilities Rams players and staff battled through 3 tough periods and one overtime period to best a very tough competitor.
The Wingham Ironmen out-shot the Rams 27-17 but did not best Ram's goalie #1 Silas S. who shone during the overtime to get the win.
First period action saw Wingham score two goals before the Rams could respond with two goals of their own, both scored by #7 Liam W. The first assisted by #16 Madden B. and #77 Mason C. The second assisted by burly defenceman Brennan B.
Wingham again attacked in the second with two more goals, this time with no response from the Rams.
The flood must have afforded staff time to rest and rally the gentlemen because the back end of the third period brought fast and furious goals. Winger #4 Ben T. scored at 6:15 assisted by #18 Troy A. and #88 Owen R. Wingham was able to jump ahead 5-3 by scoring another, an empty-netter at 2:38. Down, but not out, the team rallied when #4 Ben T. had another one in him, scoring again at 2:09 assisted by #16 Madden B. The Rams dominated the dying minutes with chance after chance and at 0:15 defenceman #15 Nolan D. took a shot from the point and tied the game.
The overtime period was action packed with great passes and goal opportunities at both ends. With both teams at even strength throughout the period, the game could have gone either way. Fortunately, for Rams players, staff and fans, #18 Troy A. was able to pick up a shot from #16 Madden B. and he found the back of the net to score the game winning goal.
