Sunday Win over Walkerton Capitals
After the rush over winning all those tournaments, the girls still have it....
This game started of quick with Elyse going for the top corner, right after that a great try from Cali and with Allyson right there on the goalie try to push it out from underneath her. The pressure keeps coming at the Walkerton goalie as Abigail gives a good pass right in front of her but a bit to enthusiastic and it shoots by the center.
As the puck finally gets to the Mount Forest end Meagan get working it out at the boards but she gets checked from behind, but manage to stay on her feet. This time the puck seems to stick inside our end, Abigail gets it and goes for the breakaway fast a hard shot and it rebounds, she gets that to but the goalie is too fast. Then Elyse tries one but the Walkerton goalie stand strong. As Danielle works hard in front and behind the net she almost gets one in. It is not over yet Abigail gives a great pass to Gillian and her one timer is just stopped on the goal line. Allyson tries a sneak-attack from behind and suprise the goalie big time, but still no goal. Then the second period starts. Gillian get the puck from the blue line and flips it up and over the Walkerton defence sticks and Abigail is right there and with a beauty of a one timer, the first goal of the game is in.
Elyse makes sure the puck get right back in after the face off and it gets to Abigail stick, who gives of a hard shot right on the Walkerton player, but she's ok. More pressure from Avery this time but just on the goalie stick, who is in the way of a lot of shots this game! Meagan give of a great pass in front of the net, but the girls are not ready for it. Cali and Mattea fight it in and a big scramble in front of the net, still just 1-0.
The third period starts of with a good pass from Avery to Cali, just missed. Jenna gets some hard work in and sets up Allyson who gives off a hard shot from the blue line. Gillian works her way around the board and passes to Danielle, Avery and Abigail set up a good attack but the puck is just deflected by the Walkerton defence.
Jenna stickhandles herself by the defence, what a smooth moves and Abigail finishes it off, 2-0! Elyse didn't think two goals was enough and determined she set of from our end though to the Walkerton net end scored our third goal.
As Abigail sits out two minutes for hooking, Mount Forest is still in attack mode. Gillian gets the chance for a breakaway but the Walkerton defence is faster. As they end this game with another win, they prepare themselves for a game on Wednesday against Normanby.
