Game 6 where the score doesn't reveal the real winners...
The game was one for the crowds, adrenaline was rushing, hearts were pumping, the girls showed determination, hard work and devotion to the game of hockey....
Mount Forest was under a lot of pressure by the Rangers but with good defensive work they were able to break out and with a great pass from Natalie E. to Elyse and Mount Forest had their first goal 0-1.
Kitchener kept coming back with a clear change but Allyson prevented the equalizer.With Mount Forrest fore checking Abigail was able to strip the puck from one of the Rangers and the goalie had to make a good stop.
Now Mount Forest is pushing, Avery on a break away but the shot goes just wide of the net. The girls kept the momentum going in the second period with a hard shot from Elyse no luck. Avery Reeves did not have much luck either with a high shot, this also got stopped by the Ranger goalie.
Kitchener penalty so Mount Forest on the power play, Avery carries the puck in the offensive end and launches a rocket, via the bottom of the crossbar and were up 0-2.Everything looks promising so far. With the Rangers on the attack the pressure is on the Rams defence, first shot from the right side of the net goes thru the crease in to the other corner but when the puck is shot back to the net, Kitchener is able to score 1-2.
With the Rams penalized for tripping, Kitchener has their first power play but Mount Forest is attacking which resulted in a shot by Elyse, the goalie covers the puck well, no rebound. The 3rd period still shorthanded Elyse goes on the attack and just misses the net with a backhand, the Rangers goalie is tested a lot.
Then Mount Forest stopped passing and looses the puck which gives Kitchener a change to score, Esther was able to stop the puck 3 times and tried to cover the puck but when the one of the Rangers hit her glove the puck went in 2-2 (where was the referee with his whistle….)While carrying the puck out of her own end Elyse blows a skate on the blue line and asw she falls, Kitchener picks up the puck and scores 3-2 shortly after that another Rangers goal 4-2.Kitchener got called on a tripping and the Rams are taking advantage Avery picks up the puck and slalomed thru the defence and she scores 4-3.
Everybody is fired up on the Rams side, Kitcheners crowd is getting quiet.
With Kitchener trying to break out of their own zone Abigail lifts the Rangers stick and tricks out the defence, shoots the goalie leaves a rebound for Elyse who scores the equalizer, 4-4. There is light at the end of the tunnel, keep the deliberator ready.
Mount Forest struggles in the last 2 minutes to get the puck out of their end and the Rangers make no mistake and score 5-4. Both crowds are screaming their lungs out to support their team. With one minute to go Esther is pulled of the ice for a extra attacker.
Kitchener can out get out of their end and shot after shot gets stopped by the Rangers goalie, Mount Forest can’t get the puck behind her. The score does not show the real winner of this battle (big heart). I hope the next time the luck is on the Rams side.
