Easy win over Seaforth
It seemed so long ago since we were at a hockeyrink we all agreed on saturday, but is was the girls game that made us forget the white outs, slippery corners and the 1.5 hour drive....
As there were only 8 girls stepping on the ice against Seaforth, the promise of a lot of ice time for each of them was a given and they used it well! The game started of with some hope for Seaforth as they scored the first goal in the 6th minute, but it did not last long. The girls were on top of it and as Allyson made a good stop on the defence the puck went around with Avery from behind the net and she is off on a breakaway, she cruises in from the left side and scores one beauty of a goal, top corner, 1-1.
Elyse and Abigail go for a 2 on 1 and the shot goes just wide. Gillian has to stretch out and tips the puck out of the Mount Forest end, Elyse squeezed herself through 3 Seaforth girls and what did not work the first time, it sure did the second, the score is 2-1 for Mount Forest.
Allysa gets it and as always she tries hard not to hurt the puck, but out she gets it and Elyse, Avery and Danielle are on their way to the other end and it ends up in a struggle in front of the Seaforth net and somehow it makes it in, 3-1.
The second period starts with a wicked wrist shot from Avery and as we all hear the "pinggg" it comes right of the crossbar, Elyse picks it up and 4-1 is a fact. As Gillian looked confused and skated the other way, leaving the puck nicely for the Seaforth girls near her own net..., Elyse was awake makes her way to the other end for a 5-1. Then Esther got a nasty surprise and as Seaforth goes for a great breakaway, they score their second goal. That was something that did not go well with Allyson and she ended up in the penalty box for interference. With one short they go in the attack, but have to rush back as Seaforth picks it up and we need 3 girls to stop it.
Gillian makes up for her "blond moment" and still shorthanded, gives a backhand from the boards that gets nicely in front of the net and leave it to Avery to get it in the Seaforth net. The goals follow each other up quick, a breakaway from Seaforth leaves Esther looking for her Jill, but the answer of Mount Forest comes quick twice and the score is 8-3. Then it is a game of ping-pong for a bit. Abigail has to speed back a few times to save the puck from getting to close to Esther, somehow the puck gets pushed in and the score is 9-3. As Mattea takes the puck around the boards, she manage to knock herself out quit hard against the boards, but it seemed she bounced back pretty quick with only her pride bruised. As the game goes on Elyse brings the puck in Danielle right on her heels and she scored the 10th goal. Gillian almost got her self a tip-in but it was stopped. Being tripped earlier in the game, without a whistle Allysa held her ground this time, she wasn't moving and somehow she ended up with a tripping penalty of her own. The girls are on a roll and Avery and Abigail get number 11 in the net.
Seaforth tried some tricks as the puck got stuck in a skate, maybe the thought they could turn the game around that way and the trick worked it became 11-4. Gillian gets a great pass from Allyson and her one-timer is stopped on the goalline. As the game winds to it end, Allyson tried a breakaway of her own and she stickhandles her way through nicely, Avery gets it around the net and Elyse and Danielle make sure it gets in the score is 12-4 and that the way it stayed. Absolute great work girls!!
