Mount Forest @ Woolwich, an exciting game..
From the beginning it was clear, we were in for some fast and furious periods...

As the first minutes of this game enfold, we know already this is going to be an exiting one! Mount Forest has a good start and right away there is Nikki who takes of on a breakaway, the Woolwich Wildcats are a quick though to break it off, the puck stays in the zone and Avery gives off a great shot on net, the Woolwich goalie makes a beautiful glove save, we haven’t seen yet in the Atom Girls “World”. Esther will be working tonight and as she is approached by 3 Wildcats, she knows what to do and stretches out to tip the puck away from them with her stick.

As the game is underway again, some good passing goes on between Abigail and Gillian and Meagan does a great job staying with her “man”.

Esther goes up and down, slides from one side to the other and is on top op her game, lots of shots are fired on her, but so far they stay out.

Then an breakaway out the book, Elyse takes of with Avery on her heels as she gives of a hard shot, Avery picks up the rebound and tries too, no goal but the excitement level shot up and as the puck stays in the Woolwich end by a great shot from Mattea, Elyse and Avery keep passing it and keep trying.

But Woolwich is an very organized team and soon they have their breakaway, Esther makes a good save, but the puck stays in the Mount Forest end and the defence has a hard time getting it out, too much unnecessary stick handling and not hard enough shot, gets Mount Forest in trouble over and over again and it is 1-0 for Woolwich. Elyse is looking for opportunities and she gets one as the Woolwich defence trips over the blue line, this time there is no hesitation and with a well aimed shot it is the score is 1-1. As the second period winds down Avery works herself through the Woolwich defence and gives is another try on the buzzer.

As the third period gets underway Mount Forest is on the attack and Gillian decides to stop a hard shot with the body and gets run over along the boards. Allyson does some fancy work along the board also and creates chances for the attackers, Danielle small but might has the right height to pass nicely between the legs of a Woolwich Wildcat. As Mount Forest goes on the attack, Avery lifts up the stick from a Woolwich forward, a confused referee calls a penalty for hooking, but not on Avery, he actually did not see who did and ends up sending Allyson to the box…..?

With an advantage Elyse goes for a breakaway but in front of the net cannot decide which leg to stand on and manage to run herself not very soft into the boards. Then Avery give a hard shot on the Woolwich goalie but is just to late to pick up her own rebound and the game turns quick the other way they find the Mount Forest defence sleeping, but Esther is still on her toes and as the give a shot that ends against the post, she makes no mistake and put the glove on it. The face off that follows on that leaves Mount Forest scrambling in front of their own net and Woolwich takes advantage, 2-1.

With the next attack coming the Mount Forest way Jenna and Natalie D. work the puck away, Abigail first pick it up but then loses it, decides to leave it where it lands and in a mind bottling move skates away from it. Woolwich knows what to do with it and the score comes to 3-1.

Elyse and Avery make up for that one, with a beauty of a goal and at 3-2 for Woolwich, with one minute to go, Esther is pulled of the ice. The girls work hard and create chances no goal comes out of it, but what a great game it was!! Lets hope we will play them more often, a lot can be learned, playing against them.
