Big win over Waterloo Ravens
A great game, fun to watch and as a reliable witness told me, a warming up to what is going to come...
Right of the face off a nice breakaway from Avery with a good shot, but stopped, but it is not over and a good pass from behind the Waterloo net to Natalie E. gives us our first goal with an assist from Elyse. Good defensive work brings Avery to another breakaway and this time it is in, 2-0.
As the puck gets in the Waterloo end again quick, Gillian gives off a nice pass to Natalie E. and as the puck goes around the net she gets it back and with a great swing she just missed the puck, it would have been a great one timer. As an offside ends this shift, another one begins with hard shot from Jenna and Abigail and Mattea fight for it to stay in along the boards, but Waterloo is fast and a good play from their side brings the score to 2-1.
Danielle gives a good shot to Sydney who gives of a good shot on net, but as the puck makes it way to the Mount Forest end a hooking penalty is for Abigail. And with a 4 on 5 straight from the face off to Esther for a save.
Natalie E. wins the next face off , with a pass to Cali who brings it in with Elyse who shows of some good footwork, back to Cali for a breakaway, which goes just wide.
As the second period gets underway, the ice seemed to be a bit more slippery than before and it’s not only the puck that flies also the players behind it are more at puck level than normal. It is a bit of a scramble to get the puck out, but Elyse works defence and offence and finishes it off with a great backhand, 3-1.
Shortly after that Abigail makes a good point, by working hard to get it in the net and with a little help from Gillian, the 4th goal is in the books. Some ping pong in front of the Waterloo net, Abigail gives of another good shot as she gets a pass from Danielle and as Elyse picks up the rebound it is 5.-1. A good play from Waterloo, coming from behind the Mount Forest net brings the score to 5-2.
The girls are on a roll though and as Natalie E. brings it up, Meagan gives of a good pass to Jenna who is off to the Waterloo end but meets some determined defence.
The 6-2 is one of many rebounds and as usual the third one is a charm, by Avery, with assists from Natalie E. and Elyse. Cali and Abigail work well together and the result is a good setup with a shot on net. As the game goes on the puck flies high in the air and with a big curve lands right behind the Waterloo goalie. A good play between Avery, who brings the puck out, Jenna taking over and stick handling towards the Waterloo end, a pass back to Avery who finish it with a great shot, 8-2.
Abigail get the 9th and last goal with an assist from Meagan as she flips it up nicely, the goalie doesn’t stand a chance. As the game winds down, some good plays are still being enjoyed and one last great save from Esther ends this game. It was a good game to watch, lots of passing the puck around and as a reliable witness told me, tomorrow would be the real test and this was a great warming up….!
