Game 3 against Grand River Mustangs no Fire on Ice...
As the girls are so used to winning easy, they will hopefully realize by now that these coming games are a little different....
As it started off quick from the face off straight to the Elora net before Esther knew it she was on her knees making a good save. A good set up with nice passing came to an end by an unnecessary and silly off side, one step forward could have meant a real chance for a goal.
That was about the theme for Mount Forest last night, they had real good chances, nice breakaways but no fire on the ice.
There were some real promising moments though as Avery gives of a great pass to Natalie E. who just missed the net. A breakaway from the Mustangs is stopped in its tracks by a save from Esther, as Avery gets it from behind the Mount Forest net and cruises beautifully to make the first goal of this game. Not long after that some sloppy defence work somehow gets the puck way up high over everybody and in our net. Mount Forest has the hardest time lately to get the puck out of our end and we end up with a lot of unnecessary scrambling in front of our goalie.
Mattea no doubt had hoped for a better ending of this game on her Birthday! (Congratulations!!!!) but she kept taking one for the team several times as the importance of facemasks was proven again and again.
As was agreed on in the stands this game could have been a Win for Mount Forest if they wouldn’t have been standing around and watching it themselves...
