Atom Girls, U11, 2011/2012 (Mt Forest Minor Hockey Association)

A sleepover tournament is the highlight of any hockey season and our Atom girls were looking to make this the most memorable one ever!  With suitcases packed and a quick stop at Timmies we were on the road to Brantford this past weekend.  Rumour has it the Gretzky family itself invited our impressive group of ladies down after seeing our stats from the regular season.  After all we came through the season with a record of 13-2-1...who wouldn't want to see that team play?

There was a storm this weekend rolling into Saugeen Shores and Owen Sound but it wasn't the weather it was a group of Girls called the Mount Forest Atom Rams and they were in a battle for 2nd place in the league. Even though we have only lost 2 games, we were sitting in 3rd place. But not for long. After the way we played this weekend the girls really made a statement for the upcoming playoffs that we are the team to beat. As the girls say SHOOT, PASS KICK SOME A-- !!

    The atom girls competed in the Durham Tournament this weekend. It started out against a very strong Saugeen Shores team with a 3-1 loss our 3rd in a row it was devastating to the girls the bubble has burst.

A mid season hiccup gave us a reason to get refocused last weekend.  The girls took their loss as a learning opportunity and turned their game play around in the Durham tournament.  With the team back in old form they went on to defeat the Normanby team 2-0 and then Aaran-Elderslie with a whopping score of 7-1 to earn them the B side championship.

Whenever 2 undefeated teams meet we know someone has to lose.  Tonight it was our girls as Kincardine handed us a 3-0 loss.  This is not the way we were hoping to start our busy weekend of hockey but the coaches focused on the positives and took the loss in stride.
